A4 Revs when changing gear
Hi there - hope somebody out there can help me...
I have a 2001 A4 Stationwagon with an automatic gearbox. I have noticed that when I start the car from cold and take off, when it changes from 3rd into 4th gear it will rev high before engaging into 4th.
It will only do this from cold, then after that it will change normally from 3rd into 4th.
Has anybody else had this problem, and can someone tell me what it is?
Many thanks in advance...
Blair.

IMPORTANT your fluid is low, go have it topped off ASAP before you damage the transmission(5000.00 repair!)
have the source of your leak repaired as well. You need to take it to Audi, VW or a European auto shop that knows Audi transmissions.
Fluid expands alot as it heats up so, when cold it is too low, when it is warm it may have expanded enough to get by, but if you leave it your sure to loose a clutch pack.
The reving you hear is called slipping. I would bet if you turn the radio off and roll down your window in the morning you would hear whining as it shifts also.
Not a good thing at all.
