Agree with M5S5. Before doing ANYTHING, I would take the car down to an O'Reilly or other auto parts store and have them do a diagnostic check. They will do it for free and print out a full report for you. Even if check engine light isn't on, the car's computer may still give you some codes to give you an idea as to what might be wrong. Without knowing exactly what the issue is, you could be wasting a lot of money replacing parts that don't need to be replaced. My recommendation is to find out what the problem is first, whether that involves taking it to auto parts store or a certified Audi repair shop, then you can replace the parts needed to fix it.

Being that the original post was from 2 years ago, I think he may have gotten it sorted out. I hope. But for anyone experiencing this issue you might want to check the hose running from the pump to the tank bulkhead where the external fuel lines attach to the tank. I had a crack in the line just at the crimp up at the top and that was allowing the fuel pressure to drop and air getting into the lines. I cut the crimped part off and replaced the entire hose. When replacing the hose make sure you use SAE 30R10 hose. Regular EFI fuel line will not suffice because there is no fuel resistance built into the outside surfaces like the inside.
