Hey I'm new to this site and Audis in general but I'm having a problem. I went to the dealership because the car is making a growling type sound when i turn the steering wheel. The dealer told me it was the power steering fluid leaking into the fluid or coolant rack? or into the boots or something. Im not sure exactly but the price quote I got was for like $1,300 and I wanted to know if there is a better place to have it done or even if its something I could do myself. I live in San Diego and any help would be great! Thanks. also my coolant has been running out really fast like every day or two for the last 3 weeks. Any Idea what that might be? thanks a lot! Anything helps

 

What year and model?

Is the coolant leaking out on the ground?

 

its a 2003 A4 1.8t quattro. I havent noticed the fluid leaking on the ground and when i fill it up and look underneath I cant see it leaking

 

Don't worry about the steering rack leak until you find out where the coolant is going. If it isn't leaking to the outside of the cooling system, it may be going out the exhaust via a bad head gasket, or crack in the head, allowing it into the combustion chamber.

 

Ok so the coolant is leaking out the bottom there was a nice little puddle this morning when I pulled out. Any Idea where it might be leaking. I didnt see anything from the top in the hoses or any leaks.
