Rumble/Vibration from rear wheel(s) when turning. Wheel Bearing?
Hey guys,
I have an Audi A4 B5 (2000) 1.8t quattro 5spd.
I've read a bit about this problem and It seems to be my rear wheel bearing(s). When I am going straight or turning left I can hear this rumbling from the back wheel (it sounds like it is coming from the back right wheel) but if I turn right (even the SLIGHTEST right turn, as in the direction of my car barely alters) the noise goes away. Is this my rear wheel bearing?
I haven't had much experience working on cars but I think I know what I am doing, is it a good idea to do this job myself (but get the bearing pressed at a shop). Also what happens if I don't replace the bearing any time soon? (the noise has been getting worse as of late)
The bearings appear to be 50 bucks, how much does a shop usually charge to press the bearings in?
Thanks

Most likely it's your right rear wheel bearing. You'd have to call around to get rates for the change. Keep in mind you'll need an alignment afterward unless the shop you find has a Hub Shark and can press it with the spindle still on the car.
