McPeek's Tire & Service Ramsey NJ
I owned a 2001 A4 1.8t from December 2000 to March 2009.
I haven’t been there in six years. Many jobs they did
for me were good. I paid them a fair price for all their work.
They defrauded me. They would cause the check
engine light , and front brake replace pads light to come on.
In February 2007 I needed rear brake pads. They
replaced the pads. Two weeks later the front brake pads warning
light came on. I didn’t check the condition of the front pads
due to the cold weather. McPeek’s replaced the front pads.
I rotated my tires in April 2008. With the hand brake on, one of
my rear wheels would spin. I blocked the tires on the other side
to finish the rotation. I asked Tom at McPeek’s to check the
hand brake. He checked my file in his computer, and told me the
cable could not be connected. He then said , I need to replace
the rear calipers due to rust. I had him replace the rear calipers
and brake pads at a cost of $500. About two weeks later the
light for the front brakes comes on. It’s May so I check the front
brakes. The pads are very good. The plastic electrical connector
had been filed down to open the circuit. I wrapped the
connector with duct tape. The front brakes are still good. I sold
the car to a friend that still owns it. The car had 120K miles
when the front brakes were replaced, and now has 190K miles.
I never returned to McPeek’s.
He used his welder to disconnect an exhaust bracket.
I know it didn’t break off, because the surfaces were smooth
with the welding material.
They burned the top of a vacuum hose to cause a CEL.
There is cloth on the outside of the hose. Heat from the engine
would have burnt it from below.
They slit a tie rod boot. I filled the boot with white
lithium grease, and sealed it with silicone.
If you go there and think these thing are happening
to you, they probably are.
I’m good friends with the current owner of the car.
These types of problems are no longer occurring with the car.
