hi there forum i bought an 1997 audi a4 1.8 turbo quattro for $750 the only problem with it was that it was flooded, after we changed the motor oil ATF we got it to start but now i think that it is in "limp mode". The car starts but when you switch it in gear it makes a really strong jerk only when u switch it into reverse and drive, the engine really hesitates when you put it in drive and try to drive the car i believe that it is in 4th gear or something and wont go higher then like 3,000 rpms i really need your help i am only 15 years old

second: sheesh. flood cars are notoriously difficult to deal with. Your TCM is probably toast. It is an expensive part. Limp mode defaults to third gear.

You may also have not used the correct amount of ATF. The Audi transmission needs to be filled at temperature. you need to monitor the transmission temperature with a vag-com (search).

best spend some time prowling around in the A4 section. lots of good information over there that I suspect you will find helpful. Also will be the best place for any questions you have.
