anybody - nitrous on a 4.2L yet?
I'm looking for a power adder at this time. S/C would be ideal but with 3 children the wife with not agree that this is a wise 11K "investment".
This car is just too slow...
I was considering maybe adding some juice to it. Anybody add a system to their 4.2 Motor yet?
If so, how big was the shot, wet or dry system, and any suggestions or expereinces you would like to pass along.
Thanks Guys!

Nah, a wet nitrous system will run you around $600 and the install is another $200-$300. On top of that its only there when you want it and the bottle will run out quickly depending on what size shot you want to run. The 4.2L can't handle more than a 75 shot using a WET system. Dry systems im not comfortable with on these engines.
I installed a NOS fogger system on an 03 A6 4.2L about 6 months ago for a guy and you really can't feel anything less than a 50 shot, and a 100 shot or so is pushing a little too much on the rods and crank. A good 50-70 shot range is ideal if you wanted to do it.
Don't expect to get more than 20 pulls using a single tank though, you also want to watch out for Johnny law, because its not legal to run in most states. Well you can have it installed in the car, but you can't have the bottle's valve on or have the hoses attached to the bottle. I think it would be best to save up for a PES supercharger.

How can nitrous be such a threat to the rods and crank and the supercharger isn't? Doesn't the 4.2 supercharger take the engine to something like 450 HP? Does the 11k include a major rebuild with new rods? Inquiring minds....

the reason why the s/c kit is so expensive is because of how rare it is for one, and for two the injectors, tuning, and whatever else is high dollar as well.. surprise surprise you own an audi lol
