looks pretty ill, not gonna lie I've always wanted to try taking shots of lightning but till now haven't had the right set-up and of course, i hasn't stormed here in a while.

Yeah this was the first set of lightening pictures I have taken as well. I can't wait till we have a bigger storm though. And I want a wider angle lens! GRRR... They key I found is to set your shutter speed to bulb and take 2-3 min long exposures with your aperture set as wide as it will go (In my case it was f/2.8). Seemed to work ok anyways. Next storm i will be taking more! Oh and the camera was actually just sitting on the dash of my car shooting through the front windshield. HAHA
i think you're too far away from the lightening. shouldn't you get real close to the storm and set your tripod up on the top of a hilland then take em??
Yeah Thats what I was planning on doing. Then the storm moved on me. LOL. It was heading right at me for a while but then went way north and I didn't feel like driving a long ways. Next one that comes through though i will hopefully get some better ones.
