Default Need help...

so yeah... I need some help guys.
about 2 months ago I was at work and my manager was on the phone with somebody talking to her because she needed help moving and had an audi of some sort that she needed to get rid of. of course i jumped up and asked him what it was and that I would be interested. well they had no idea what it was, it had been sitting for about 2 years and they just needed it gone.

well so on my way home from work i stopped by there to check it out. to my luck it was a 91 coupe quattro. I was expecting a FWD automatic 100 or something like that. so I talk to her about the car and ask what we can do, and after a while of talking we come up with the plan of: She gets the car towed to my house, she gives me the keys the next day, we check the car out and test drive it and what not, and then tell her if we want it or not.
well she gets the car towed to my house. but the whole keys thing? not so easy. after calling her every 2 days for 3 weeks straight I gave up. she was always too busy to find the keys or get the title. so we finally decided to take out the trunk lock and get a key made for it. just so we could see if it ran. well we got a key made, but now after car faxing the Vin number we have found out theres a lein on the title. yeah. lots of fun.

now from you guys all that I need is some sort of suggestion on what to do next. talk to the DMV about it? dump the car at some junk yard? cause what if the car isnt payed off yet? and we go to the DMV asking them about it and then we have to pay for the car?

worst part of it all.
the title isn't even under her name she says.

yeah... help me out guys?
I know its a long confusing post. but bear with me here...

thanks.

Call the dmv, tell them your interested bying the car and find out what and how much the lein is for. It might not be worth the hastle !!! Through experience , if she doesn't have the title you would need to send paperwork from the dmv to the previous owner "overnighted with delivery conformation" and have them fill out the paperwork and return it to you. The reason you need delivery conformation is to proove to the DMV you sent the paperwork. If they dont send the paperwork back within a reasonable amount of time the DMV will decide if they will allow you to put the car in your name...not guaranteed they will !!! The whole process is screwed and anoying !!!

No key, no title, no paperwork, lein......

Its up to you to decide if you want the burden or not. Personally I would never do that again !!! Good luck !!!
