So here is the question. Is there a noticable difference between Mobil 1 0-W40 vs Amsoil Euro blend 0-W40?

I just got Amsoil and am about to put it in so I was wondering.

Amzoil has quite the fan club... those who use it feel pretty good about it. Haha, who knows how much better it actually is. I wouldn't ever go further than 4k miles though on any oil. I don't care if amzoil says it can go for 15k or whatever -- I'm not doing it. The filter must be full of crap by then.

Our cars call for 5w40... Audi recommends Castrol Syntec 5w40 as their 'suggested' oil... but since Mobil doesn't make 5w40, you should use 0w40. I thought Amzoil made a 5w40 though?

the #W designation refers to the temperature the oil isengineered to remain "pourable" down to. The "W" means "Winter." the number after that is the viscousity, or, how thick it is. So, 0W-40 is 40-weight oil that is designed to flow in temperatures as low as 0-degrees C. Helpful in winter time, but, not much use in the middle of summer. Personally, I tend to switch to a higher #W oil in the summer, and a 0W-## in the winter, since I make frequent trips up to Michigan, where it CAN get down to 0C. If it weren't for that, a 10W-## would work perfectly well for the climate here, just below the mason-dixon...

Would Mobil 1 0W 40 work sell UNDER HOTT CONDITIONS?

It's summer here in Chicago and I was thinking of changing it until Winter. Car seemed not to run quite as well as when it did in Winter.

I doubt the oil is the culprit. The "winter" formulation would be marginally thinner, but not enough for your engine to really be affected, I don't think.

Try running a couply tanks of additive/octane booster. You may be suffering from CGS... Crappy Gas Syndrome. Sometimes gas stations put cheaper gas in their storage tanks but charge premium prices. ESPECIALLY when gas prices start escalating. I remember back in the late 70's, when we had our "gas-crisis" this was a big problem. Nowadays, with car computers able to adapt to poorer quality better than ever before, I can see this turning into an issue all across America, very shortly. Most of the profits in big oil are only realized at the top, not at the gas-station-level.
