Locally we have DUI checkpoints about once a month - here's the fresh kill list off the streets tonight...

Now take this in account - we are one of 6 at the check point - so multiply our total by 6 and that was tonight's haul... You get 132 vehicles...
On an even sadder, more tragicnote - in the midst of the checkpoint a van comes in. Inside is a guy and family of 4 illegal aliens - they had flipped their SUV into a field 50 miles outside of town and instead of calling an ambulance - they called their buddy, the driver of the van, to come get them and take them to the hospital.
All four had suffered severe injuries and were either bleeding or had broken bones- the youngest, a 3 yo girl, had half her face crushed in and is not expected to make it. [&o]
Of course, the father - who was driving the SUV - was drunk...[>:]

ya my mom told me there were police check points that pull ppl over for no reason? kinda dumb because if I get pulled over from now til march I get my license suspended. so if that were to happen to me i'd be pissed for another reason to get pulled over for NO reason.

They've put up checkpoints twice in my town and I always get waved through. It's nice to be on the up and up with the 5-0. If you get stopped at a checkpoint where they are stopping everyone, and you're clean, you won't be charged with anything and it won't count that you got pulled over. It's like being stopped while going into a secure facility, you're only in trouble if they find something you're not supposed to have (in this case, a higher than legal blood alcohol level.)
