Check out CIAG flash chip upgrade. I just did it on my 01 S4. No soldering or messing with the ECU---all software. In addition, you can go back to stock mode with a push of a button. You also have a valet mode, kill mode and race mode (high octane fuel required).

I'm assuming that you are talking about a twin turbo v6 (b5).
Check out this info page from APR. It states some facts and characteristics, etc.
http://www.goapr.com/Audi/support/chip_tuning_faqs.html
And yes, you will get over 100 more torque and over 60 more horsepower on pump gas, easy.

RE: 2001 s4 tuners?
Hey Dan:
Sorry for the delay with regard to getting back to you. What it feels like...What can I say, it is a different car in 2nd and third gear. A turbo in gerneral will be a very different feel for you than a normally aspirated engine. There is nothing like a turbo in 5th or sixth gear and you mash the pedal and the car still has pull! Second Question: If you go the GIAC route you can take the car back to stock with a push of a button (you have to buy the handheld flashloader) for reliability and better fuel mileage. Third question: NO there is no record of any tampering---the dealership will not even know. However, GIAC database will know as your VIN will be in their system.
Fouth question: Yes it wakes up the car! Do an oil change every 3,000-4,000 miles and your car will thank you for it. Most times I run around in stock mode but when I am feeling aggressive or want to put a smile on my face or make a Porsche dude Cry, I will chip it (you can do this while the car is running or at a stop light etc). After you chip it, put it on a Dyno and tweak the auto for maxium boost. Have them scan your auto for any errors afterwards. Enjoy!
