Hi,
I have a '99 S4 (pic enclosed).
It has 18" Kahn rims on 45 profile Goodyear Eagles, just cleaned brakes out, had new discs/pads all round and freed up siezed calipers.
The wheels are balanced and tracked.
YET - the car has started running with a constant groaning noise from the rear, like binding brakes or something, but it gets real bad when cornering and its got steadily louder.
Does anyone have any ideas?
The car has been checked underneath by a pro and nothing looks wrong.
Has anyone out there experienced anything similar? Im just wondering if the bigger wheels might be causing this but the car ran ok for a year with them.
Also the engine is noisy at idle compared to most smaller engined or newer audis, is this normal?

sounds like you got yourself a bad wheel bearing my friend.. pretty common in the s4 realm.

 

Sounds like a bearing to me also, not too expensive or difficult to do.
