I brought my '02 S4 (tiptronic) in for 80k service to the dealer. Now I wonder, should he have replaced the transmission fluid? I have the 5-speed automatic.

The '02 A4/S4 maintenance schedule for 80k says the following:
- automatic transmission - check for leaks
- manual transmission - check for leaks
- Multitronic(tm) transmission - change ATF

What exactly is multitronic and which '02 B5 has Multitronic?
And does my particular car *ever* need a transmission flush ever?

It's "lifetime" fluid, but YES, it should be changed. It's messy & takes about 2hrs.
