Vehicle turnover on 2004 S4
Hi all,
I have money down on this S4 at Coventry Motorcar in CT.

The car is gorgeous, drives great and checks out clean according to Brian, who's been recommended here and other Audi forums for PPI's. But someone who looked at the CarFax believes where owners 3 and 4 had the car but 5 and 9 months respectively should raise some suspicion that something may be wrong. I would think something that major would have been obvious before Coventry even bought it. Here's the owner snippets from the CarFax. Would anyone else be concerned? Thanks.

I wouldn't be overly concerned. you should make sure the dealership will give you some kind of a 30 day return policy because if the car was sold that quickly for problems it should be evident almost immediately. the price looks a little high but it is a dealership. I bought my 04 S4 at 46k and havent had a single problem until recently at 78k.

Look over the car and if everything looks good then I wouldn't worry about it.
When I bought my S4 the 2nd owner only had the car for about 2-3 months and then he sold it. After doing a lot of research I found forum posts from the owner that he couldn't afford the maintenace of an Audi like he thought he could (he was younger) so he had to sell it.
In the end it's ultimately your decision tho. You are the one making the payments so if YOU aren't 100% comfortable with the car then you should make the decision to pass on it or go ahead with the purchase.
You should also try doing a google search for the VIN number. That's how I found all the posts about the S4 that I ended up buying. Most forums make you post the VIN # if you are selling the car so you may get a few hits.

I ended up buying the car and love it. It passed NH inspection with flying colors and more importantly, the inspection by my mechanic (Peter at EAS in North Hampton) who said it was a very nice car. It's got a couple issues I didn't catch and I'm trying to deal with Coventry on those but I am thrilled and having a blast in it. I don't quite dare say I enjoy it more than my previous two 911 turbos, but it's a different kind of car. Sort of a luxurious beast! Thanks for the input.
