Default grinding noise

I have a 2000 S4. I drove it to school this morning and after class i went out and started it and noticed a grinding noise coming from the engine. It doesnt sound like it is coming from the tubos but it could be. I have never heard this before. Also it is not consistant noise. After checking things out i notice that the check computer light came on. I was wondering what could be causing this noise could be?

do you have a VAG-Com or access to one? You could also take it to Autozone to have the CEL code scanned. If the light is flashing then DO NOT drive the car anymore, have it towed to a mechanic. If you get the code post it here, and i'll try to help.

If the noise was coming from the front end, you might be abusing the clutch and have blown your transmission. When my friends blew his transmission there was a grinding noise.

Alright I found out what the codes are
P1136- Bank 1 Mixture adaption too lean

P1347- Bank 2 Crank/Cam Sensor out of sequence

P0300- Cyl. misfire Detected

Would any of these cause the noise that i am hearing from my engine?

The P1347 code kind of scares me, I would go get your car looked at by a professional.
