Default What an R8 really costs

I read in a couple of magazines that the R8 runs about 100K. The latest I think was 112K. I was just at my dealer and saw one, with a SOLD sign of course, that went for 132K + 20K dealer markup. So, don't believe it if you hear that this supercar can be yours for around $100K. Not that it matters to guys like me and most of you, but just thought I'd share. Similar story with the Nissan GT-R that they keep saying is only around 70K. Talk to a dealer and it's more like 95K.

Ya this has been the story since they came out. Instant collectible, the markup has been insane. All of the R8's that will be produced in the foreseeable future are already sold (through 2009)

Not unexpected IMO.

The MTM R8 is over $300,000 EEK!

Yeah the prices of those two cars are relatively cheap, just the markup is insane cause everyone wants one for that price.

Ya both are sweet cars, personally i think the R8 is a little underpowered, when the more expensive and powerfull one comes out ill be happy

The GTR really is crazy, theres been soooo much hype about its insane. While it performs (more than the R8) it also has some drawbacks... if you buy one your going to be spending ALOT on fixing it, regular(pretty friggen often) maitaniance costs a bundle... Almost any modification you do from wheels to a catback will throw a CEL, there is a black box, so if your american nissan dealership sees youve been on a track they will void the warentee. They can also void it if they can tell you have been abusing it.

But that aside its amazng, i really want to see one in person... Looks sick on BBS's too...

you should right a letter to nissan. there was a huge thing going on how nissan told the dealers that they cannot increase the cost of the car. any dealerships charging over the 70k were soposed to have their gtr's taking from that dealership.

Ive seen a black one, all stock, still had temp tags. Whent to a sonic car show and some guy had it, it was for his SON! He says he plans to autocross it, wait till he finds out about that black box, lol. If he can afford to buy it for his kid to drive, he shouldnt complain. He was pretty cool though, let me sit in it, had the hood open. Not a bad car but not my thing, and certainly not up to Audi quallity. Looks good in black at night, but ugly in daylight imo.

Autox might be the only thing they cant tell youve been doing since its not at a track (at least for me, we use the runways at an old airforce base) and any abuse will likely be under 70mph and for less than 2 minutes.

If they look at the black box and see youve been going 170mph and youve worn through your custom made 20" runflat $4000 tires in a couple months they might check and see whats up int he black box, which also records data from the telemetry system (Lateral and front to back G's, etc etc)

Supply and demand.. Why sell something for MSRP when you can get MSRP + 20g's?
