S6 or S5
Any major problems with the 2008s V10 engine? other than an arm and leg for labor?
Looking at S5's as well. Any experiences or knowledge is welcome!

The S6 is in it's own class against the S5. I got V8 S5 loaner when my S6 was in shop and it felt like tin can. The S6 is luxurious and has lot more expensive feel. It depends what you want from the car.
If you want a car that is status inducing, has every option and you are not into modding then go with the S6. Look for one that was maintained and you should not have any problems. The V10 has tendency to build carbon so if you can get a car that had decarboning done that's a bonus. Otherwise by 2008 all the kinks were worked out of the V10.
If OTOH you want to mod your car then go with the S5. But find one with the supercharged 3.0 engine. Forget the 4.2 V8. There is plenty of performance mods available for the 3.0 SC engine. You can actually end up with quicker and more powerful S5 than the S6.
