Ok Guys, I've looked and looked and can find no real info on gas gauge malfuction fix...my gauge was working irratically and now does nothing, pegged at zero...I've seen posts that say loose /broken wire at sending unit and loose bad connection at gauge but no decisive answers from those who fixed theirs...I don't want to rip entire car apart guessing or spend more dough than I need too, so please step up! what actually fixed yours...thanks now!

well I guess I'm the only one to have fuel gauge problems...So I went ahead with diagnostics....pulled wires from cluster checked for cleanliness and damage all looks good put back together no change gauge don't work....pulled sending unit from tank, all looks nice and clean no damaged wires, then put ohm meter on it it tests fine 40-280....put it all back togther run car, no change, gauge don't work....next pull cluster back out disassemble pull gauge, apply multimeter on low volts, gauge moves a little so gauge must be good....this car has a knob for zero adjustment of gas gauge? on dash face....anyone else got that? It's a 1994 90s....I need but can't seem to find a wiring schematic for gauge/cluster and from tank to dash....I've looked all over this site and audi world and found very little...It'd be nice to get a little help here....
conclusion(Ihope) I Put cluster back togther after finding nothing definitive wrong but made consious effort to wiggle three pronged mini voltage(i think) box(near gas gauge on back of cluster) enough to reinstill connection to that rechecked sending unit fron outside of tank at connector plugged everthing back in started the car and low and behold the gauge seems to work...hope it lasts...Now all I need to know at this point is all about the gas gauge calibration knob my car has....will I have to figure this out too?
