for the majority of people who have turbocharged audi's, it's not worth putting in an atmospheric valve since the A/F ratio is manipulated to compensate for the extra air. but it's not exactly catastrophic to run one as a lot people think. granted you will run richer, it's not going to cause a bent valve or your bearings to run out; at most, you'll see carbon build up down the line.
that being said, if you run an atmospheric valve and have your engine tuned for it, they do make the engine run much better at WOT. it's more relative to street use why DV's are so popular. this stigma that atmospheric valves are worthless is relevant to the application. sound is never a proper excuse... because it is annoying.
