Question OIL question /Poll

Whats oil are you guys using .
My 2001 manual states to use 0w30 or 5w30.
Many of the Audi and Vw Techs say I should use M1 0w40 or Castrol 5w40
autozone now has a surplus of Castrol 0w30,5w40 5w30 and M1 0w40 but I wanted to see what everybody uses

I use Lubro Moly 5w40 and recommend it to everyone.

I have only had the oil change once so far and the timing belt. Both were done at the dealer so what ever the dealer is using, Castrol 5w40 I think?

Amsoil full synthetic 5W30 would be my choice. As for Castrol, the stuff you get at the dealer is euro spec, which is a true full synthetic. The Castrol on the shelf here is a semi synthetic unless you buy Castrol EDGE.

Default GErman Castrol

Got my hands on some of the official German Castrol 0w30 full synthetic
according to specs its actually closer to a 40w oil with less shear
