Default 2001 A8: advice needed

I'm looking at buying a 2001 A8 with approx 119,000 miles. Service seems to be up to date with timing belt/water pump/thermo being done. I have not driven it yet and my only concern is future transmission problems. It looks like the 2001+ D2's are better, transmission wise, than say the 1997-1999 D2's...is this an accurate assumption on my part? Any other areas of concern with a 2001 D2?

Thanks.

I would definitely say drive it and spend the money to have it checked out at a good independent Audi mechanic, or the dealer. It will be money well spent. I bought my 02 A8 6 months ago, and it has been pretty good. I have a couple of things that need to get done to it now, but the major components of the car have been solid. AND I LOVE THE CAR

Also check to see if the rollers and tensioner was replaced with the belt. The previous owner of mine had to replace them due to failure.
These Audi's are pretty solid.
