I am in the same boat as the ones that have the steering wheel shimmy/vibrations at high speeds. Along with this is also notice vibrations on the gas pedal and the shifter, i am guessing all of you have noticed this too.
I guess this is one of the reason why the dealer i went to is reluctant to replace my control arms. They would only be fixing the problem temporarily.
Hope Audi figures out the real cause soon and put out a TSB on this. Its kinda painful driving long distances and keeping it under 110km/hr to avoid the vibrations.

Not sure why you believe the control arm replacement is a temporary fix. No evidence for that at this point for almost all those having it done. These are the same new control arms as equipped in the later 2010 models. There's also no evidence that brake pads or rotors have anything whatsoever to do with the high speed vibrations. I've had warped rotors in other cars and believe me, you would notice it immediately when braking with pedal pulsing.
As has been said many, many times, if you have the hi speed vibration, go to the dealer and have him follow the procedures of force balancing, tire roundness etc. If balancing fails to cure the problem and they find no defective tires to replace, the dealer will request the control arm replacement from Audi. There is already a TSB procedure out for this. There's no reason for a dealer to be "reluctant" to request approval for replacement of the arms if they follow the process. Call Audi if they won't follow the procedure.
Update 10/16: got my new control arms installed and can report as others that the shimmy is gone.
I just got a 2010, has 800 miles now, and I'm am just starting to notice a strong vibration at 75-80 mph. Thought it was interesting since the arms are supposed to be the updated ones in this years model.
My 2009 had the vibrating issue almost every time I drove it at 60mph+ but the last month or so the problem has just gone away. The only thing I can think of is I had a flat fixed and possibly the cooler weather might be having an effect.
