First of all, I'm new here. I've searched a lot, lurked a lot, had my 2000 A6 for a while. I just cant figure out why my electric cooling fan is running a lot. The car is not hot. Even when cold started it does this. I am guessing its the temp sensor. Would this be a good guess?
Also I got a CEL and code for 02 sensor. how do i know which one? are the codes specific to the sensor? I have a matco scanner, not a VAGCOM.
Any help would be appreciated.

I had this same problem and it turned out to be the Coolant Temp Sensor. In Feb, 2008 there was an Audi recall that dealt with this issue (ECT Sensor Warranty Extension). As I already had mine done, I submitted a form and they sent me a check for the $85 I had spent on it.
