Default Painting My Trim

I know i have seen posts on here before about painting trims but i cant seem to find them.

I have the ugly wood grain trim in my B5 A4. I am looking into painting them silver like i have seen on here but i dont know who it was.

does anyone have any advise as to what paint and primer to use? Or any other prep advise?

Thanks

Default Painting My Trim

Did you wet sand your trim pieces first before priming, painting and clear coating?

Hey man, I have silver trim in my b7 and I'd rather have the wood... idk whether the B5 trim will fit in the B7 but if so, I'd be willing to trade.

The B5 and B7 trims are very different and won't interchange. The paint process is easy - remove the trim, sand with 600 grit sandpaper, wash it down and dry it, hit it with adhesion promoter and filler primer, paint, and (if you choose), clearcoat. I painted mine at one point in silver, then did it in piano black, followed by removal and reskinning it in black suede (what I currently have), and leaving the center dash panel in piano black. Currently I still have the suede, but had member Jiggleo redo my center panel (as well as the ashtray and lighter surround) in dry carbon fiber, which is my current look.
