Loose trim on roof

The 1inch wide trim piece in between the Open Sky and the outside of the body is coming loose on the rear of my car. I've banged it home a few times, but it's beyond that now. Looks like it's held in by some metal clips and two-sided tape. It goes in for service in a few thousand miles so a temporary solution would be acceptable.

yeah that's happened to mine since day seven.
so annoying! i've taken it for maintenance, etc and they have "fixed" it every time, only to have it become loose a few days after.

if you figure something out, please let me know!!!!!

what's weird is it's only my right side...the left side has been fine (knock on wood!)

Silicone works... so does polyurethane glue.

Take it in the the dealership. I had both mine fixed and it's been fine for me.

I tried trim glue and it didn't work very will. My 35,000 mile service is due in about 4000 miles so unless it gets much worse I'll have them try. My Houston dealer seems pretty good so far.

I had the same thing happen to me last year. In fact, I was driving home one day and noticed that the entire trim on the right side of the roof came off. I brought it to my dealer and they said someone probably pried it out and stole it. But I did some research online and found that some other people had the same issue - that they were driving and all of a sudden, the trim would rip and then fall off. I explained it to the dealer about what might of happened instead. They were reluctant but still ended up ordering a new trim for me and replaced it for free. Otherwise, it would have cost a couple of hundred dollars.

I've noticed on several cars (mostly American) that different trims and seals that should have clue, dont. My Intrepids door seal was like this - glued in all the way around on the pass side, only half way on the drivers. It worked and held for about 15k miles untill it came off.. I'm figuring this is the same kinda deal.

I had this problem as well. In fact, I had to take my car into the dealer about 5 times for this same issue. Apparently, this was problem was subject of a recall issue. My problem was that the strip didn't begin to come up until the dealer performed the recall!
The problem lies in the fact that the clips underneath the strips aren't strong enough. After bringing in a "specialist" the service guy told me that the mechanic had to double the number of reinforcements underneath the strips. So far, it's been about a month and strips have not come up again. ::Knock on wood::

I saw some two sided tape as well as the clips on mine, so maybe the previous owner had the fix done.
