Default 2001 Allroad Front Suspension

I have an 01 allroad - the front suspension sinks entirely over night. It will pump back up after the car is turned on for a few minutes - but left for more than a few hours the front will completely sink again.

My audi mechanic (hasnt physically looked at it yet) is thinking one of the front air bags probably has a leak.

I am thinking of trying to change it myself. Any word on how easy/difficult this is? Also any somewhat do-able test to see which bag is leaking?

Cash is tight! $1250 for one airbag! ouch!

It's an pretty simple job.About the same as replacing a shock.

The New Coil Conversion? Looks like it would be easy enough and wouldnt have to replace another air bag.....and looks like Arnott's customer service has a good reputation.

Thanks a lot! Wasnt looking forward to spending $1250 on..then probably $1250 on another shortly after that!

Talking

I just got two new front airbags from Arnot, local import repair shop is installing them for 120 each. Not too bad IMO.
They are also doing the timing belt/water pump/etc (VAST kit) very reasonably.
Replacing serpentine belt idler/tensioner pulley.
Replacing coolant overflow tank (cracked).
Replacing both upper control arms, both side (cracked bushings)
Replacing left front outer CV boot.
Replacing diverter valves with 710Ns.
Replacing "Y" pipe on intake.
A custom tune from VAST (about time)

It's like a scavenger hunt to find all of the things that have started to fail now it's 100K. Lets hope all will be good for a while now.

Not counting the timing belt kit or the air springs it's going to be just over $2K for everything. Not terrible for the big 100K servicing.

Wow. That's a lot for one trip.

Even better. Today was driving our other Audi - 2000 A6 Turbo - When I got in it was running extremely rough and soon smelled of rotten eggs/sulpher.

Can I replace this myself too (whatever the problem may be!)?? Please say yes.

I have no idea, maybe some of our other members have insight that will help. I would guess something fouled up with the catalytic converters.

Check engine light on?
