Default Occassional stumbles at idle

I have a 2004 Allroad with a 2.7T. Bone stock. Extremely reliable at 70k. The last couple of days I have had a weird thing happening. While sitting at a light at idle the revs will suddenly drop to zero, the car almost dies, then it comes right back up to 700 rpm on it's own. Happens occasionally but not consistently. It also does not generate any codes. Any thoughts?

Also, when starting off from stop the auto transmission will occasionally hesitate, then slam into gear. It has done this since new but is definitely different than my RS6. Again, no codes so the dealer can't seem to help. Any ideas?

Thanks.
