I'm thinking of picking up an 01 TT 5spd roadster w/ 75K on it. I would use it for my daily commute of 130 miles round trip. Do you guys think it would be a good choice or should I look for something else? I know about the timing belt issue and would have that changed soon, along with the tensioner and water pump. Aside from that, anything that would keep you from driving it 130 miles a day?

I have an 04 and it is my daily driver for the past year and a half. Great MPG and I drive it hard, into every corner and red line the tach at least once per day. No issues
My 2001 tt 225 quattro has been my daily driver for almost 5 years. Very, very few problems and 28 mpg all around. Just don't drive it as hard (sorry, I'm going to be honest here) as some of the juvenile cases on this forum.
as for a TT for a good daily driver for you, you can only tell
for me im a 172lbs 5"8 male in college. I snowboard and go out a lot with friends (normally only take one passenger with me). live in denver, co so i take my car to the mountains even during bad snow conditions (the tt can fit two ski/snowboard bags, and 2-4 backpacks with seats down for big snowboarding trips), the coupe for me is very comfortable even for roadtrips to LA, CA.

I'll assume you are referring to me as the juvenile case since I'm the only one who has apparently had a negative experience with reliability. I'm a computer programmer. I put about 25 highway miles on per day going to work and back and run to the store a couple times a week. 2 grand in random parts failing this year. 71k miles on the thing now. No I don't drive it hard..
