So i jumped into the timing belt job, probably should've researched more first. i got the timing belt tools and good instructions on that...doesn't look too bad. But i've got no instructions for the apparently 'easy' stuff like stuff about the front carrier. got the bumper off, now:
Q1 - do you guys put it into service position or just take the whole thing off? i don't have the
special service position 'tool' could you just rest it on the loosened bolts?
Q2 -how much shit do you need to disconnect? do you drain the whole system before moving the carrier?
ok thats it for now, probly more q's coming. hope i can get this done by sunday night.
thanks

Reason: update
Fuck...i have my crankshaft locked and i was using a gear puller to pull the cam sprocket and the camshaft rolled forward (clockwise) almost 90 degrees. Can you move it counterclockwise? its hard to grab anything on it at all to turn it.
all finished up....took about 8 hours, think if i did it again it would take half that. there was a shitload of oil and grime all over the place, but it didn't look like the seals were leaking so i left them alone. not sure if it's oil from when my valve cover gaskets were badly leaking (i hope) or something else. what is the gasket that connects the upper half of the oil pan to the engine...would that maybe be leaking? biggest pain in the ass (and time consumer) about the whole job is moving and disconnecting hoses and wiring that go to the front carrier so you can swing it out of the way. thanks guys for the quick responses to my q's.

Reason: typo
Don't worry If your car is anything like mine you'll be able to time that thing in your sleep in a few months
For the carrier tools I picked up some aluminum rod and threaded the ends. Then bent the other end into a hook. Twas Cheap and the aluminum threads like butter.
