For 2007, the adaptive Bi-Xenons come with the technology package. As far as I know, that is the only way to get them stock for a 2007 model. I think the technology package is a good value though.
Adaptive means that the lights turn with your wheels into the corners. The 'Bi' feature means they work for both hi and lo beams. Every time you turn the car on they go through an alignment process to measure the weight of your car, just in case they need to change angle since the last time they were on. Very advanced system.

I called ECS about a month ago and they said around December-January they will be offering their OEM housings with a plug-and-play HID kit as a package. So it will be a very simple and easy order, install, etc.
It will be over $1,000.00 I believe...pretty pricey.

Also is there a combo kit that includes both the H7 High Beam and H11 Low Beam and a single ballast to run both ?
Have they been "aligned" to work in Halogen Lenses?
Each ballast controls one bulb. In order to convert the high beams and the low beams to HID, you would need to purchase and install two seperate kits unless you have an H4 dual beam setup for which we have a dual beam kit.
The HID bulbs' focal point (the point at which the light is emitted) remains the same as the halogen bulbs that were removed so the light distribution and beam pattern remains mostly intact. There will be a little scatter but I believe most of the complaints people have are not that the light is pointing high but because it is so bright. Projectors are Ideal for HID use but we have had tons of customer who purchase them for use with reflectors and do not have any complaints or problems.
I just want brighter lights on my A3....I have trouble seeing at night on the old country roads unless the HB's are on...if they aint its like theres a flashlight tied to my bumber.
Anyhoo....short and simple...whats the cheapeast option to A. either upgrade the entire light..or B change the bulbs to what?
I recently ordered a 5000k kit that supposedly is plug and play from www.vvme.com . I figured at the price it was at least worth a shot, and it comes with bulbs ballast and relay. Somehow I never got it, and they never even sent me a tracking number the first time, so they're sending me another one for free (suspicious?)
If it works I'll post pictures of beam patterns and the such. Also, if I can get it working, anyone here probably would be able to =]

It would be wrong and give you a bad light pattern (blind opposing drivers) to simply install HIDs in the halogen housings. I've purchased the FK projector housings with Angel Eyes for HID conversion. I've tried two HID kits and they both flicker/strobe when the engine is running. This second kit included a relay to power directly from the battery and additional capacitors to ensure a steady power supply and these haven't changed the results. The only thing I can think of that might fix it would be a VAGCOM program change, but I've not tried that yet (will do this weekend). If anyone else has found a fix for this, please let me know.

I finally received my lights, and installed them. I have pretty much no experience messing with anything under the hood, so was very pleasantly surprised at how easy the whole process was. For some reason I didn't get the bulb error or flickering issues that some people have been getting, so did not have to tweak with vagcom either. Considering it cost me around $100, I am more than satisfied with the results. The site I purchased from is actually selling for even cheaper now.
I drove a bit in my neighborhood with one of each headlight to make sure the beam pattern was acceptable, and as far as I can see it is quite close although the hids do offer slightly inferior visibility I think. I also checked to see what they look like from a rear view mirror and am happy to report that its not particularly blinding or annoying as I was afraid it might have been.
Anyhow, here are the promised pictures. Forgive the bad camera quality, my camera doesn't correct for my shaky hands too well. Also, the pictures make the light look very blue, but in person they actually look a very crisp white color and quite close to the oem xenons. The pictures are 1] one halogen + 1 hid, 2] both hids, and 3] the beam pattern from standing outside the driver's side(one halogen/one hid).
Wow, it does look very blue! Probably due to the exposure of the camera. I've noticed on mine when I use night mode it tends to give everything a blue hue. Did your kit come with new housings or did you retrofit the OEM housings for HID? The beam pattern looks like you are using the halogen housings, and that would explain why you are getting inferior visibility.
