Default RE: Anyone put HID's in their A3?

Yes, unfortunately I'm using the stock halogen housings. I didn't figure it would be a huge problem where I live, as the marginal light sacrifice doesn't really seem like an issue in west LA/santa monica =]
I saw an R8 last week in westwood, and I'm secretly hoping for the off chance that someone will start making aftermarket (or maybe even oem?!) housings that have the row of LEDs that I saw underneat the lights on the R8.

Check out stryker's A3-- he had S6 LEDs custom installed in the fog light openings. With enough work and skill I bet these could be integrated into the headlight housing.

quick update, the hids don't work 100% flawlessly. In the week I've had em I got the broken headlight error when I turned them on. However this was quickly fixed by just turning them off and back on again. Not a huge hassle, but I am a bit concerned if this will lead to long term problems.

Do they:

Fit the A3?
How much?

And being an electrical engineer im sort of shocked the 9volt could handle that many LED's on in series configurationg.

they pull sooo ilittle power- hence the 9volt battery can power them- brightness increase once hooked up to the car's 12v power source. Yes the headlights were designed for the A3- i merely modded it with the LEDs
