Sorry to hear about that. I'm not one to say "I told you so", but definitely take warnings to heart. That is the best part of the forum, that people have usually done and screwed something up before, so learn from everyone else's mistakes.

I hope the part comes quickly. I know that you'll enjoy the new gauge.

Cheers!
Well I dare not say how it happen cause it was my own fault, I was tryign to do something stupid and should have just left it the way it was - doh!!! [&:] Anyways, my local dealership has ordered the part and I should have it tomorrow lunch time. Which means I will install it at lunch and be on the road in the afternoon, with my new boost gauge And btw, I must say AWE have done a top notch job on this piece of gadgetry - I love it [8D]

No that was weird, the battery was out of the car for about 3 hours, and when I put it back in the whole thing powered on normally. Radio, CD, SD, Nav, Phone, etc all seemed to be functioning correctly. Only thing I had to do was set the time again. As I haven't been able to drive it yet I have not had a long look at the trip computer. But if everything else was working okay I guess the rest should be just fine

Yeah, I didn't understand that either?

Even my Sirrius and Radio presets were saved. Maybe there is an auxillary back-up or memory storage?

Default RE: PROBLEM!!! AWE Boost Gauge Installation

So the gauge is all installed and I have my new brake boost installed. At idle it sits at about 20nmHg and boost is anywhere between 10-15lbs. Which from what I understand is all within expected values. So whats the problem: Well during boost when the gauge starts to read into the 'lbs' the gauge vibrates, not a loud annoying sounds but a noticeable one. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be or how to fix it. Should I call AWE about it?

On a side note, so after the connecting battery question. My powered windows needed to put up and down a few times before the auto up and auto down worked. I did lose all my trip computer data avg mph and mpg. But these are no big deal

Yeah, mine does that too, some. Did you use the "special"....*hummmph....fuel filter*....dampening filter they gave you? I've experimented with different gauge openings on the vacuum "T" to dampen the sound, but smaller gauge holes makes the needle react to slow, while bigger gauges give you instant needle response, but vibration. I've settled for just a little vibration under heavy boost, for a gauge that reads fairly quick. Good luck!

Welcome to the tinkering aspect of modding.

Cheers!

Well if it is normal then I guess I can put up with the vibrations at and above 10lbs of boost. Or I can just turn the music up louder and get the vibrations from the speakers

Umm, so yeah, I know what the brake boost is now, damn thing snapped on me [:@] Rubber hose off to the front of the car snapped the outlet from it when I was trying to get it into the hose for the T piece. So yeah if you get one of these or any boost setup becareful, you have been warned It costs ~$50 for a new part.

So in theory I have it all installed, lights up nicely with the headlights and interior lighting. Looks very snazzie Except of course, I can't test that it actually works cause I am waiting on a new brake boost from the Audi dealership Let's just hope they order it Monday morning and I can get it from them on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Also I notice getting the engine cover was a b17ch, easiest way I found was to pry each rubber grommet off one by one. Starting with the one at the front left corner and working around anti-clockwise (there are 4 in total) to the back.

Anyways, lets all is well when I get my new brake boost in [8D]

Yeai broke mine too. Luckily my buddy is a Porshe/Audi technician and got the part for me the same day. I knew about how easily it breaks and i still broke it.[:@]oh well, it's fixed now....

Sorry.

We post how easy they are to break, and it still happens. Just so long as everyone knows the risk before starting. I'm glad you're up and functioning!

Cheers!
