Vag-com cable from ebay???

Im using the cable with the 409.1 of ross-tech and when i do the the test it says port status ok but the interface not found what do i have to do I have a 98 audi a4 1.8t need help plz... I bought the cable from chiltonsondemand wich is the cable that works ???

have you installed the drivers to make the USB cable read as a serial cable?

check the com port your using. mine will recognize the cable in two ports but only read in one of the two

I have a 1.8T SE on a 2002 and i have it working on com 3 although its usb. but it wont work on the car. been told the 2002 use hex+cam but mine would be manufactured around 2001 so it should work. the chap off ebay said he would refund me.

I originally had gotten a usb style from ebay and it did not work then my uncle sent me one from the same seller that was a serial style and it works fine.
