You guys are so hard core! AWESOME!!

Unfortunately, I cannot work with my hands, so I'm going to either:
1) Do nothing, I guess they are just headlights afterall
2) Get Hellas installed, dynamic leveler and turning features included.
3) Get an A5! (or the new A4...going to test drive one tomorrow!)

Good job on those lights guys, I'm really impressed by people with these skills!

Default RE: A3 HID Conversion Installed

bEAR sent you a PM.. and thanks for the reply...

just to share with everyone- i manage to 'fix' the problem.
Also for those usingVVME HID KITs- the H7 bulb base has 3 protrusion grooves that mimics the same protrusion/grooves on the projection's bulb seat area- hence it was not 'resting properly and i was getting an annoying and uneven bright spots.
So i dremmeled the bulb base and created a slight indent on it where the original protrusion/grooves were (it's a plastic bulb base- almost all HID kits are) for the bulb seat area to fit into- and it's all good- even light throw and proper angling of the lights. The adjustor i managed to fix (ihope)..

Hello all,

NOOB here...

I know this is an old post but I can't seem to find an answer to my question....

I will be getting the FK Angel Eyes for the A3.

I know it uses H7’s for both high and low beams.

I will be getting some HID H7 kit.

My question is: How many H7 bulbs should I be getting?

If I want to use both high and low beams that would mean I need four (4) H7 HID bulbs?

Most HID kits only come with two (2) bulbs, would I need to get an additional pair?

Is there some harness that allows two (2) separate HID bulbs to be powered by only one ballast?

Or do I need a four (4) ballast kit?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

using the FK which will only allow a single HIDset up- and adding H7 HIDs for the high beams- is not going to work. First of, you would need a second set of ballast for the high-beams. 2nd, using the high beams with a second set of ballast- simply isnt feasible- unlike Bi-Xenon HID housing which uses the same HID bulb-and uses a built-in internal shield in the projection housing that 'drops' when the high-beams are activated. Hence an instant brightness since it is using the same HID bulbs. If you were to use the highbeams in the FK with another set of HIDS- will require for that set of HIDS to warm up to obtain the brightness- so that defeats the purpose and will likely damage the ballast with the quick surge of power by activating the highbeams- makes any sense? sorry im a bit under the weather- but i hope u get my drift.

Tiptronic-

Thanks for the reply.

We have a truck that has a 4-ballast setup: H13-4’s with 4 wires attached to 2 separate ballasts for each side. (The H13-4’s have 2 individual “bulbs” in one base)

I thought the same might be possible but with the bulbs on separate bases.

So how do you have your FKs set up?
You have HIDs for the low beams, what do you have for the highs beams?

Thanks again.

BTW, your LED mod on your FKs looks sweet. I particularly like the “S” badge on the side of the high beams.

EL

Thanks for your comment on my FK/ LED mod (just to clarify- its the AudiSport badge, not "S" =)

back to the subject- haha- I am using standard halogen/H7 bulb-but by HOEN- "xenonmatch" for the high-beams =)
I am currently re-designing the LED mounts, and will utilize the FK's angel eyes as part of the turn signals (make the halo blink when the turn signals are activated) since i'm really am not using the halos for anthing else.
