Default RE: A3 Air Intake - Master Discussion

I don't have the Carbonio myself, but I've read that it doesn't produce big gains, if any at all. Also, there's reports of the carbon fiber turning yellow. I think there's a review somewhere - try searching the forum.

I know my p-flow is bumping into the engine parts for sure... and i had to trim the rubber ring, located by the screw mount, to have the intake fit into position.

Default RE: A3 Air Intake - Master Discussion

I just got a Carbonio and will be installing it in the spring.APR uses a 3-layer foam filter while some other older kits use the K&N. The foam filter has less air resistance.

Iexpect the Carbonio will increasefuel efficiency ofabout 1-3 miles per gallon and add optimally 5% inhorses to bring it up to 210. The foam filter never has to be replaced, just cleaned every 15-20K, so that's another savings. (The general concensus is that most cold air intakes don't do a heck of a lot in terms of dramatic increase in performance or fuel efficiency unless coupled with other mods anyway.) I figure the kit has about a 3 year payback and in the meantime is designed to look pretty cool.

BTW, in researching it, I've never come across any reportswarning againstdiscoloration of the carbon fiber.

Good luck on the Carbonio. I think that 5% power increase and 1-3mpg improvement is overly optimistic. However, I've just install the AEM "real" CAI, and I've now found the best replacement, IMO. Unfortunately, it is also the most expensive.[:@] Isn't that the way it always is?

Check out the link:

Cheers!

Chef, you're a genius - I've been taking off the bumper like a fool to clean the filter when I could have just jacked up the car and gotten in through from the bottom.

Nice write up on the install. Glad you like the AEM as much as I do.
