I have a membership to Costco and really like it. I used to have a Sams Club membership before I moved. No preference. They are pretty much the same. I did hear a report on NPR how Costco refuses to raise costs over a certain percentage of what they paid for it. Apparently some investors were not happy with this, but Costco refused to budge. I have to respect that. Not sure how Sams runs it.

I would go for whichever is closer to where you live. If it's comparable, I would drive by both a few times and see which one has an emptier parking lot and go with that one. Those places suck when it's crowded.

i have both pretty close to me, and they're virtually identical...i guess i'd have to go with costco, just because of what jukeit said above....plus sam's club is owned by walmart.....i don't like walmart.....

I'v got CostCo. Have friends that have Sams and BJ's. All are about the same, price-wise. Maybe a frw pennies diff, give or take, depending on teh product. See if the Costco near you has GAS!!! The one I go to sells it for 7-9 cents cheaper that the surrounding gas stations, but it's almost 20cents cheaper than what it sells for in MY neighborhood, so, going a few miles out of my way is worth it. I'd save a little over $4.00 if I run it dry, which I neva do.
