Default 18x8.5 et45 with 255/45/18. Won't fit?! Please help!!!

Ok guys. I'm a bit of a newb to the Audi scene. I just bought a 01 a4 1.8t. My buddy has a set of axis sports 18x8.5 with blizzack 255 /45/18. It's a killer deal for these wheels but when I tried to bolt them on the back of the tire hits the control arm. When I have the wheel in the wheel well touchingthe control arms it looks like I need about another 1/4 to 1/2 inch to have the back of the wheel touching the rotor... Can I make this setup work with spacers? Anybody used this setup before? I know there is some guru out there that knows what I need to do. Thanks guys!!!!!!

A 45 offset is too high. I ran 19x8 wheels at a 37 offset and they barely cleared the control arms. You'll need spacers for sure to fit them if you're dead set on running them. Be sure that you also get extended lug bolts as well.
