Default 98 A6 Running warm

Hi all,

A relative of mine has a 98 A6 2.8 Auto.
Car seems to run warm in traffic but not overheat, when the car gets warm the AC shuts off, I assume it's supposed to.
Any thoughts on why the car runs warm? The dealer is has been useless on this one.

Thanks!

Mileage and recent maintenance would be a help in diagnosing the problem.

I'd consider when the coolant was changed (if the system had been flushed), whether the oil and filter have been maintained properly, and whether the correct tuning issues have been scheduled properly - things like the plugs and timing belt come to mind.

See if you can get a VAG done on the car. That might shed light if there are any codes that have come up.

The service will cover the timing belt, water and fuel pump.
