Default Maintenance of Sudi S4 vs BMW M3

Hello,

I am looking to buy either a 2006 Audi S4, or a 2006 BMW M3 soon. The BMW delaer mentioned to me yesterday that BMW covers ALL the scheduled maintenance as well wear and tear costs (including replacing wiper blades, rotors, brakes etc. - everything except tires) on the car for 4 years or 50,000 miles. But Audi apparently covers only the scheduled maintenance. Everything else is out of pocket expense.

Any thoughts?

i think the dealer is full of it. BUT he could be saying that he covers the wear and tear parts for the first 10,000km/miles. after that its all you. ALSO the maintenence 1&2 i never heard of a dealer covering those. and they get pricy. like 1500-2000 bucks.

sounds fishy to me.

I had heard that Audi was changing it's warranty policy for 2006. I just checked out the website here is what they say.

Our 2005 and 2006 owner protection program includes the following:

4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, no-charge scheduled maintenance. Oil changes, a tune-up, even wiper blades are included.
4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, new vehicle limited warranty
12-year limited warranty against corrosion perforation
Audi 24-hour Roadside Assistance for 4 years

You'll have to look at the fine print to see what is 'scheduled maintenance' vs what is wear and tear.

BMW did just improve their warranty.

BMW will cover both scheduled maintenance AND wear and tear items.

Audi have retracted their wear and tear coverage (still has scheduled maintenance) FOR MY06 AND BEYOND.

2005.5 B7 models ARE covered for BOTH.

Wiper blades and brake rotors are almost not ever covered anymore.

Really the only bad rotors i see are on pre 05 A6's with 2.7s

but when there is a brake pulsation its always the rotors and probably wont be covered due to abuse

And for the wipers, its usually the job of the service advisor to get those replaced for you there is also a TSB on wiper blades

Why buy a 2006 M3 when the 2007 E90 M3 will have a 400hp V-8?

totally agree, wait till 2007 or late 06 to drop that much money, buy a car you can just handle till then becuase bmw is coming out with the e90 with 425 hp and a new 335 to bridge the gap and that will have over 300 hp so you will be able to keep your options open. i personally think that audi is going to have to do somthing serious to compete with audi in the coming years with there s- line
