I just replaced my struts and once I assembled everything the strut is coming up too high under the hood. when I tighten the bolt, I have about 1-2 Inches of thread and the cap hits the stop on the strut before it hits the car's fender. Any ideas what I could have done wrong?
Thanks,

I assume you mean you replaced the cartridges?

If I recall, there is a dished washer above and below the strut mount, and a "Bump Stop" below the lower washer. From memory, and I checked my 84-88 manual as well, I don't think you HAVE 2 inches of thread to have above the mount.

What is the car, BTW? And, have you measured the old one to see if you were sold the wrong part? Other cars use cartridges, too.

Luck,

George
