RE: XM Radio in a 2003 A6. Is it wired???
with a 2003 A6, yes you don't have the factory XM/Sirius capability (Audi added it in 2004)...but it can be added for some $$.
Option A:
You'll need:
1) new Symphony II head unit from 2004 A6 ($400+); you will still retain a 6 disc in dash CD changer.
2) OEM Sirius or XM control module ($400+ from dealer or $250+ from ebay/used market).
3) GPS antenna ($50+)
4) Misc wiring ($50+)
See my links below for Lee's install in his 2001 A6 for detailed instructions.
Option B:
Go with an aftermarket XM or Sirius device. You'll need a blitzsafe device ($100) to provide the audio input behind your Sym II HU. See "Stoney's links" below for pix/posts from folkls in audiworld that have done this. Lots of content. Also, I would consult you local stereo install shop for install pricing. This can be done yourself...with a little bit of novice wiring work.
Option B will probabably run you $300+ (parts/labor) if installed by a stereo shop; $200+ in parts if installed by you.
Good luck!
