Default A8L Technical Issues--MMI & "Clunk"

Greetings All....this is my first post.....My 2004 A8L has 10,000 miles and is clearly the finest motor car I have ever owned or driven for that matter.....however there are two issues which remain unresolved. Perhaps someone in this forum will have a similar experience. If so please advise if there has been a resolution.

First issue: MMI cuts out infrequently but repeatedly. It also gets stuck and will not turn off, until the car is turned off. Dealer and Audi Advocate indicate that this is a known problem which the factory is working on a resolution. So far no advise on progress of the "fix".

Second issue: While driving at 40mph when accellerator is eased up and then depressed lightly (as when coasting in traffic) a clunk is heard. The clunk sound first occurred at about 38-42 mph. The drive shaft was replaced. This did not fix the problem as now the clunk sound occurs when coasting at 20-25, 40-50 and 60-70 mph.

Dealer and factory cannot seem to isolate this problem. Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Clunk sounds unusual. Never heard that before. I'll ask some friends at Audiworld if they've ever experienced that condition. The MMI problem is likely to be deficient software. What's your VIN. There's a recall!

Thanks Paldi for taking the time to reply to my post.

Here is my VIN

WAUML44E14NO20186

I will contact my Audi Advocate (for the 4th time) and see what's up with them.

Thanks again

There is fix for the clunk, it has somthing to do with the trany filter not letting the fluid flow or somthing, and i know there is a recall on the mmi thing, and they are still working on it as of now.
