Hi everyone,
I've just purchased a 99 A6 2.8 quatro auto tiptronic with 59000 miles and I notice a few drops of what appears and smells like gear lube from the back of the tranny. I suspect that it's the seal on the output shaft however I would have expected to see lighter oil like ATF.

I some questions, Is the tiptronic tranny filled with heavy gear lube? Is there a separate tranfer gear box behind the tranny? and finally how do I top of the lube or fluid after replacing the output shaft seal?
