RE: 2002 A6 oil change procedure?
There are the three torx screws that you mentioned, one 10mm hex cap screw and at least one plastic 1/4 turn plastic fasteners in each fender well. Six single turn metal fasteners (they look like oversized slotted screws). Three just behind the painted bumper cover's lip in the indent, and three at the rear of the cover. You may also have two very lage (T45 torx) bolts near the front fasteners. You aren't going to be able to install the filter completely filled with oil since it sits at a 90* angle to the ground, and you will pour most of the oil out trying to install the filter. If you feel a good amount of resistance when trying to remve the lower engine cover, you probably have fasteners still holding it on, check very carefully to make sure you got them all.
