Hi:

Does any one know if AUDI 90, 1991 needs to change timing belt?

I am interested in on very cheap AUDI 90, 1991. The owner told me that this car use another method and has no timing belt. it is ture?

unless someone swapped in a Wankel or turbine or something, the car has a timing belt.

I believe you can drive it untill the belt goes, then just replace it and drive some more.
correct me if I'm wrong, thoughs engines are non intefiring 4 cyl >1.8L and 5 cyl

Also, in the 1991 models (Audi maintenance), it indicated:

Additional Vechicle Maintenance every 90,000 miles
-- Toothed belt: Replace (Audi V8 only)

So 1. is the toothed belt = timing belt?
2. does it mean that other models in 1991 (except V8) donot need to change timing belt??

1. YES
2. No, it means if on V8 or V6 belt goes valves are beaned and would need a lot of repairs. for 4 and 5 cyl if belts goes you will be straineded some where
