My car has the dashboard LCD screen and the MMI buttons for GPS, but it has no player, it has a fin on top of the roof, but not sure if is for GPS,
Any sugestions ?

I had a post on this. The factory GPS system is now available as a dealer installed option. Just be careful on the labor. Audi USA says it is 2 hours labor to install. Make sure the dealer agrees up front.

Thanks for your reply,

Do you think that this thing can only be performed by a dealer? Do you know of any other (aftermarket) options?
My gut feeling is that the thing is already prewired, since it even has a working button, in the MMI board, when you press it: "Navigation not installed" comes on the
screen, any ideas are greatly apreciated.

Were you ever able to find out any info on the navigation? Just curious, because I seem to be in the same boat. The people at walters told me it would be around $1800, I probably should of just added it then.

Hello James,

Thanks for your post,
You know, I've looked all over... and I mean all over, I even went to see a few of those custom shops, some just like the one on "Pimp my ride" and my impression was that most of them had no clue about the Audi system, and one of my fears was of them messing up the MMI. -Walters Audi was one of the first ones I've spoken to about the nav, and the price for parts/installation was around 1,800.00 plus the nav dvd, which goes for another $ 3-400.00, even one custom shop told me that was not a bad price; since the dealer defenetly knew what to do !!

I'm a fulltime photographer and the nav. is very handy for locations, and just for the time-being, I garaged my A6 and I'm driving my old Volvo,so I went out and I bought a portable Magellan nav. I paid $850.00 for it, it goes on the windshield or top of dashboard and I'm very-very impressed with the system and ease of use, plus all the maps for US & Canada are factory preloaded and the unit is ready to use right out of the box.

I've seen examples from older Audis in other forums, and regular folks were doing a beatiful job that looked more like a factory installation, all with mail order parts, but the 2005 models are different, the MMI components work with fiber-optics and not too many people know anything about it. But as far as the nav on the A6 goes, I think I will just get done at Walter's, as there are just no other options.
