Probably the ISV is dirty.

Could you give me a clue as to what it looks like and location.
I have ordered a service manual but it has not arrived yet.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for valued information. Very easy to locate and get to.
What would be the proper procedure to clean the ISV.
It appears that the electrical connector should be disconnected and it appears that the rubber boot should slide off.
I should be able to clean the unit with NO flash-- an elctrical contact cleaner.
Does this sound correct.

Thank again for your assistance,
mikerike

I would use brake or electrical contact cleaner first, if that doesn't help try using carb and choke cleaner. Plug one hole spray some cleaner, plug the other and shake it a few times, pour the contents out and repeat a few more times until clear cleaning agent comes out. Don't poke inside with anything as this can cause the vane to stick. If you do a search on this forum you will find plenty of suggestions and discussions.
