They aren't that skinny but compared to american rocky tyres they are i suppose. You're right, much better, you can normally cut through the mud to the hard ground underneath with a thinner tyre rather than floating on the top of it.

I've notcied alot of you guys over the pond do it on rock, i'm guessing thats due to the type of climate ie dry. Mainly mudding over here in UK, nothing beats a bit of mud!

Yeah for rock climbing you want as fat a tire as you can get. you also want an auto tranny and as little air in the tires as possible.

you only want an auto tranny if you want to burn it up.....auto trannys are garbage...manual is where its at......i dont have pictures of my setup..but its a chevy 350 with a 400 crankshaft....running it into a SM465 4 speed manual, linked to a NP203 transfer case, adapted into a Np205 with 5.13 gears.....now thats crawl ratio...i can get out with my rig in first and low in both transfer cases..and walk faster than it will crawl..

Thats a Land Rover Defender, right? I always thought manual SUV's were funny. But it's good for off roading I guess...

There's a lot of mudding here, too. It's just mostly in the East or Northern Mid-West.
Most of our off roading publicity comes from the desert regions because it's a "sexier" photo shoot.

4 wheeling is where I started, that’s a really cool looking rig. Mine was an 84 Toyota that we decked out for crawling.

I was all about the wheelin until gas prices overcame my weak full time student budget. I sold my gas hog for my 96 a4 quattro, best deal I ever made.

I have a 1952 dodge M-37 ( look it up ) with a corvette 327 cu in with 5.88 gears and a 5-speed manual. thats the only way to go in my book. It has 36 inch bias-ply (indestructible and skinny) tires. it's a sweet truck with lots of character and tons of power. here's a pic...
