Default 2000 A6 4.2L - what does this button do?

Just picked up my 2000 A6 4.2L - had a great drive back from Philadelphia to DC. No manual with the car - there is a little button on the drivers side in the door sill. One is to open the trunk. The other shows something like waves coming out from celigning - is this to turn on the lights? The cooling system?

Also - on the dash there is a part of the display - sometimes it will say "285m" - sometimes "22h 22m" Something like that - what is this?

I don't suppose there is a scanned manual online?

Thanks

Its a button that turns on/off the motion sensors for the security system. Its a pretty cool security feature, unless you leave your windows open and a leaf or something blows in :-)

The display has a timer on it so you can tell how long you have been driving. I found that out when I was on a long road trip and it kept displaying the hours that I had been driving. Not sure why it is on there?

It turns off the interior motion sensor as stated above. It works great if you have a dog in the car while you run into the store for a quick errand.
